March 24th

Inniu Dé Sathairn 24ú Márta. Fuar agus gaofar.

We put on our sunscreen and the shorts and headed off on the Ocean Road Drive, one of the most spectacular in Australia. Breakfast with Howard and Di had us well fuelled and ready for road.

It rained. As John McEnroe would have said:
"You can not be serious!"
We did see long stretches of ocean beaches and rugged cliffs but we could have been driving to Miltown Malbay on the coast road. The rain cleared soon enough but it remained windy for the day. We ended up being embarrassed into changing out of our shorts. (more anon)

We did get to see "The Twelve Apostles". These are rock stacks in the ocean only seven of which can be seen from the tourist viewing points. Obviously named by an Irishman. We also stopped to view "London Bridge" which had been connected to the mainland. But in 1990 the connecting part was washed away and a husband and wife were stranded and had to be rescued by helicopter. It made news all over the world. Only problem was that they were not husband and wife to each other!

Stopped in Apollo Bay for lunch and spent a nice hour in Lorne where surfers braved the cold and we were brave enough to roll down the windows of our car as we sat and read.

When we got back to our "serviced apartment" we had a note in our room telling us that the clocks were going back an hour. This was when the clocks at home went forward, so we are now 13 hours and not 11 ahead of you. Phone calls and texts home, washing and ironing, uploading of video and photos, bit of grub and again after midnight going to bed. We are going to take it handy tomorrow.

Nath na Seachtaine:
"Not a day for the shorts guys!"

Share the Luv: Only one. Di took pity on me when I told her about the "Cuiditheoir".

For anyone unfamiliar with the drive to Miltown Malbay on the coast road .... the sun always shines there. I don't know where Coilín gets these notions.
